Fitting is important or the cover will chafe the legs or fall off.  A shorn sheep  should be fitted with the cover loose but not overhanging.

Fig.1     These sheep are a good fit and can even be a

little bigger for a full 12 months wool.

The leg loops can appear a little lower.

Notice the elastic is beginning to expand with growth

Covers Which are too large

If you have a cover too large the slack can be taken up

using an green "elastrator" or string  to hold

until growth has filled out the cover

                                                                       Not this way please

A Pleat can be made to lift the leg loop and which is then stitched  in a sewing machine. For good looks do it on the inside.

Good for low leg loops

The pegs show the position to remove slack material

Note... the elastic will expand the cover for wool growth. The neck has very strong stitching to prevent breakage. The material is rip proof.

Horney Sheep

The cover can be expanded around the neck so as to go over large horned rams and bucks.

Cut along seam at side of neck, but not the elastic.

Pull out elastic and cut across,

Cut to open up the cover for more head room.

You can join the cut by twine or plastic tye .

The material will not rip any further.
